How do I book a session?
It’s simple to book a session with me! Just send me a message here and we will get you set up! A contract and session retainer are required to hold your date.
When should I book?
Newborns – since we usually don’t know when your baby will arrive, I only schedule a few due dates a week to ensure that there is time in my schedule to accommodate early/late arrivals. I suggest booking your newborn session during your second trimester. Sometimes, due to early and late arrivals, time opens up in my schedule. If you haven’t booked early, don’t hesitate to contact me to see if I can fit you in!
I suggest booking portrait sessions 1-2 months in advance if you require a specific date.
How do you schedule newborns, when babies rarely arrive on their due date?
I soft schedule newborn sessions by due date (or within 2 weeks after their birthday, if your child has a scheduled induction or c-section.) Contact me soon after baby’s birth so we can finalize a time for your newborn session.
What if my baby is born early or late?
I only accept a few newborn sessions a week to accommodate for late/early arrivals. If your newborn is a preemie, he/she is usually ready for their photoshoot once they can go home. Consult with your child’s pediatrician if you have any concerns.
When do newborn sessions take place?
I recommend that your newborn session take place between 5 and 14 days of life. The younger they are, the better they sleep. Plus, they haven’t learned to stretch out yet. If your newborn is over 14 days, don’t worry! We will still get beautiful images, but they usually take more work and some poses may not be possible. If your child is older than one month, I suggest a lifestyle session in your home instead of a posed newborn session.
How do you keep babies so sleepy?
I provide a Newborn Prep Guide for parent’s to follow the day of the Newborn Session. When these tips are followed, babies are usually pretty happy and sleepy. During the session, I use various soothing techniques to keep baby happy including pacifiers, white noise, swaddling, a space heater to keep baby nice and warm, along with plenty of tricks I’ve picked up along the way! Most babies wake up at some point to feed or be held. We take as many breaks as needed. Newborn sessions cannot be rushed, which is why they usually take 3-4 hours.
What is the pre-session consultation?
Most pre-session consultations are done over the phone or by email, but I am happy to meet up with you for an in person consultation. This is the time to discuss what you expect from your shoot. We discuss colors, style, props, wardrobe, posing, location. This is also the time for me to answer any questions you may have.
Does the session fee include any products? Are print purchases required?
All sessions come with a specified amount of digital images to download from your password-protected online gallery. Most Newborn Collections come with product. Print purchases are not required, but I do offer custom boutique items available for purchase. You are welcome to print your downloaded images with any lab you choose; however, I cannot guarantee the quality of the prints if they don’t come from my lab.
How long does a session last?
Most sessions last about 1 hour, and a newborn session lasts 3-4 hours. Newborn minis are 1 hour.
Where do sessions take place?
Newborn sessions take place in your home. All I need is a small space by a window or sliding glass/french door. If you don’t feel your home has enough lighting, please contact me to discuss other options.
Children’s sessions can take place either in home or outside on location. Family sessions are on location (park, beach, forest, etc.)
What if it rains?
Sessions will be rescheduled due to inclement weather, at the photographer’s discretion.
Why don’t we get all the images you take?
Images with blinking eyes, strange faces, unflattering angles, etc. will be culled. The images that remain will all be artistically hand edited by me. I only present the best images from your session in your gallery. These are the images that have met my standards for the quality of images that I want to present to you.
Where are you located?
I’m in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, New York.
What is your technique with kids? Because mine like to run around!
If your babe likes to run around, so will I! I love photographing kids just the way they are. Though I will toss in a couple of posed shots in there, majority of our time will be snuggling, cuddling, and running around. It’s the best way to capture how they are!
How long does it take to receive our images?
Your proof gallery will be ready 2-4 weeks after your session. If you choose to order Heirloom Products from us, can take 1-3 weeks to arrive.
